Drill bit shapes and uses

Time:2024-05-29 Visits:212

There is great diversity in drill bit shapes and uses, and the appropriate drill bit type can be selected according to different materials and work needs. Here are some common drill bit types and their uses:

Twist drill: This is the most commonly used hole machining tool. It is characterized by a long straight main cutting edge connected by a chisel edge, and a spiral chip groove for easy chip removal. Twist drills are suitable for drilling various metal materials.

Center drill bit: used to hit the center point before drilling. The front end taper has various angles, such as 60°, 75°, 90°, etc., and is used in conjunction with the top center of the lathe tailstock.

Superhard drill bit: The front end of the drill body or all is made of supercarbide tool material, which is suitable for drilling of processed materials.

Oil hole drill bit: The drill body has two small holes through which the cutting fluid reaches the cutting edge to take away heat and chips.

Deep hole drill bit: Straight groove type, cutting off a quarter of the strong part of a round tube to produce cutting edge chip removal. It was first used for drilling gun barrels and stone-clad pipes.

Drill bit reamer: The front end is a drill bit, and the rear end is a reamer. It is used for mass production needs. The difference between the diameter of the drill bit and the diameter of the reamer is the allowance for reaming.

Taper drill bit: used to process the mold feed opening.

Scraper bit: suitable for soft bottom layers.

Roller cone drill bit: works stably and can drill both soft and hard formations.

Milling type drill bit: mainly suitable for hard formations.

Special drill bits: such as wood ball drill bits, glass drill bits, countersunk drill bits, two-in-one combination drill bits, etc. Each has its own specific use and design.

Impact drill: Mainly used for drilling hard materials such as ceramic tiles and concrete. It has a raised head and a square or round handle at the tail.

Pagoda drill: Suitable for woodworking, furniture manufacturing and other fields, it can drill, expand and remove burrs in one.

Overlord Diamond: Conquer hard materials such as wood, ceramic tiles, marble, steel pipes, concrete, etc.

Double-headed cobalt twist drill: suitable for stainless steel and other metal materials.

Hole opener: suitable for drilling holes in glass, ceramic tiles, marble and other materials.

Air conditioner hole punch drill bit: suitable for drilling holes in concrete and brick walls to install air conditioners.

Electric hammer drill: Based on the electric drill, a piston is added with a crankshaft connecting rod driven by an electric motor. It can drill holes in cement, concrete, stone and other materials.

Tile drill: Also called glass drill, it is mainly used for drilling holes in ceramic tiles and glass.

These different types of drill bits demonstrate the versatility of drill bit applications in industrial manufacturing, home repair, and the processing of a variety of materials.
